I Heart Red Backgrounds

A photo I snapped this past October of one of my sons and my adorable granddaughter, Freya. They were sitting on the curb and I thought the bright red wall behind them made a good background.

I like how both of their heads are bent to the side, and Freya’s shirt matches her Daddy’s leather jacket. They also have matching eyes.

This week’s photo challenge on I Heart Faces is “Red.” It is a way to celebrate Valentine’s week in a bright, vibrant, fun way while also spreading the word about a fantastic cause… Go Red for Women.

Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. Go Red For Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives.

Find out how you can help or give to this cause here.

I Heart Smirks

This week’s Photo Challenge on I Heart Faces is “Smirks.”  This is my grandson, Kole, eating carrots. I’m not sure if he’s smirking at the taste of the new food, or smirking at his silly Grandma. (Well, I might have been talking to him in my goo-goo baby voice, y’all!)

I Heart Angels, no, wait, I Heart Angles!

This week’s photo challenge on I heart Faces is Focusing on Angles. At first I thought this read, “Focusing on Angels.” But then I paid attention (something I find hard to do these days) and realized that they want a photo that was taken from as unusual angle.

It’s kind of hard to take a baby’s photo straight on, so I have a lot of pictures of my littlest angel, my grandson, Kole. This photo was captured at an angle while my son, Kyle, was changing his clothes. The expression on his tiny face, as he studies his father, makes me smile. I hope it makes you smile, too.

The last time we saw Freya, just before she and her mom and dad moved to Michigan.

Look at that face! I think she’s going to be a real mischief-maker when she’s a little older, don’t y’all?

A Thousand Words Thursday # 12

IMG_4830

I know this is blurry, but I love it anyway. This is my son, holding my granddaughter, Freya. I think the proud look on his face is worth a thousand words.

ATWTWhich just happens to be the rules of another photography meme called A Thousand Words Thursday. It is hosted by Jen, at Cheaper that Therapy. I think she’s on to something, myself. If Tomorrow Comes…

Thanks to my friend, Jan, over at Jan’s Sushi Bar, I’ve decided to give this here posting every day thing a try, y’all. It’s called NaBloPoMo,and I can’t believe how long it just took me to write that. Stands for “National Blog Posting Month”. You post something every day for a month.

It’s ridiculously hard ….damn near impossible….a monumental task on the weekends..the biggest challenge of my life so far….can we just say only seven days left?…almost over and I have really, really run out of things to saybecome the bane of my existenceworse than I ever imagined it would be…forcing me to dig deep these last few days.

The theme of this was supposed to be “tomorrow”, but really, how much can you say about something that’s never here, is not guaranteed to arrive, and yet, the whole reason most of us keep getting up every day. See? It’s not like just posting your recipe for making sweet ice tea, y’all.

This little cutie pie is my granddaughter, Freya. I’m just going to blatantly cheat today and post a poem that my grandmother wrote about baby smiles, miles, gloom, shadows, God, tomorrow and time.

She would have adored this face, God love her.

TIME

Enjoy the times a little child smiles
Or old folks running their healthy miles.
Take time to smell flowers in bloom.
Look into the shadows – cast out the gloom.

Time is precious and time will tell
If its used wisely and used well.
Sometimes its wasted – that is sad!
One life lived is the time we had.

Our God created everything.
Take time to worship – His praises sing.
If tomorrow comes, what will you do?
Waste not the time that comes to you.

For Wordless Wednesday – Another Baby Picture, sorry!

SSPX6677

This photo is for Wordless Wednesday, normally hosted by Dixie over at French Lique, Texas. But Dixie is real busy tendin’ to her okra (how southern, is that, y’all?), so her blog is being hosted for a while by Heather at Simply Joyful Photos. The theme for this week is “Blogger’s Choice”.

Check out more Wordless Wednesday photos here.
