Summer Stock Sunday #4

Thanks to my friend, Jan, over at Jan’s Sushi Bar, I’ve decided to give this here posting every day thing a try, y’all. It’s called NaBloPoMo,and I can’t believe how long it just took me to write that. Stands for “National Blog Posting Month”. You post something every day for a month.

It’s ridiculously hard ….damn near impossible….a monumental task on the weekends..the biggest challenge of my life so far….can we just say only seven days left?…almost over and I have really, really run out of things to saybecome the bane of my existenceworse than I ever imagined it would be…forcing me to dig deep these last few days…*sigh* almost over.

Summer is almost over, too. Here are a few interesting shots that we took this summer at Wrightsville Beach, NC. I can’t take credit for this first one. My husband took it, standing waist deep in the surf. He was out there for a while that day, but his patience paid off.

I got this one while we were walking up on Johnny Mercer’s Pier. The girls were furiously texting enjoying an ice cream while I took photos. I thought this little sand piper was cuter than teenagers with cell phones growing out of their hands.

This photo has “Summertime” written all over it. Sandy toes and flip flops, what could be better?

It’s called NaBloPoMo,and I can’t believe how long it just took me to write that. Stands for “National Blog Posting Month”. You post something every day for a month. The Theme for the month is “Tomorrow.”

Last weekend we took the girls to Wrightsville Beach. While they tried to fry their pasty New York bodies into a crisp worked on their tans and texted their brains out maintained social contacts, I spent way too much a fair amount of time trying to get a perfect shot of this young man skimboarding.

Skimboarding is a sport similar to surfing which takes place near the shore.  The skimboarder stands about twenty feet from the ocean with skimboard in hand and waits for a wave. When they see a wave they run towards it with their skimboard still in hand. Upon reaching the wet sand they drop the board and jump onto it as quickly as possible. Once on the board, the skimmer must remain as stable as possible and prepare to make the transition to the ocean. The skimmer then (hopefully) glides out into the ocean toward the oncoming wave, banks off of it, and rides it back into shore.

I Heart Faces At The Beach

IMG_0141 - Copy

This is a photo of my step daughter, Danielle, catching a wave at Wrightsville Beach, NC. It was hard to choose a photo for this week’s I Heart Faces theme, “Faces at the Beach”. I live so close to one of the prettiest beaches in the world, so I have a million and one photos to choose from. This is one of my favorites of all time.

I Heart Faces is a photography sharing forum that focuses on the art of capturing faces and their various emotions. Each week, people from across the world enter their favorite face photos (except this week, it’s feet!) into two different categories ~ kids and adults. A judge picks a winning photo from each category that is displayed on the I Heart Faces page.

Summer Stock Sunday #2 – Sharing a Boogie Board

IMG_0113

For the last eight years, or so, “summertime” means “stepdaughter-time” to me. We get her the entire month of August every year. This year she is going to be 14, and tomorrow we are headed up to New York, where she lives, to get her. This year she has invited a friend down for our month of summer. So we will have our hands full, trying to keep up with two lively teenage girls for a month!

This is a picture from last summer that my husband took of she and I, in the ocean at Wrightsville Beach. We were trying to catch a wave on a boogie board. It’s kind of hard to do, when you are sharing one between two people.

Blue Monday equals Blue Seas

downloadThis pretty little bluejay means that it’s Blue Monday, y’all. This is my second week of participating in this photo meme, hosted by Smiling Sally.

It’s easy to do, and pretty self-explanatory. Post a photograph of something blue, go to Blue Monday, and add your blog. Then sit back and wait for the comments to roll in! Oh yeah, and it helps if you spread some bloggy love by commenting on all the other lovely blue pictures.

If you want to see some other blue pictures, click on over to her site and you’ll be amazed.

Blue is my favorite color, so I have lots of Blue Photos to share. This is another one from my first, and only cruise. We went to the Western Caribbean on Royal Caribbean’s ship, Jewel of the Sea. This shot was taken from the beach at Xel Ha, a natural waterpark in Playa de Carmen. I love the varying blue colors of the sea and sky.
